The Purpose of an Event

When companies plan their social events, they think about many things. Who they’re inviting, where they might have it, which day works best for everyone’s schedule, and maybe how much they spent on it the previous year. What they don’t often think about, is why they’re having it.

The problem is that by not truly getting to the purpose of an event, companies miss out on great opportunities. Opportunities to make a marketing splash, to boost their image, opportunity to showcase their culture, their history, their personality. They also miss out on the much simpler and important aspect of an event: its success.

I was talking to someone earlier this week whose husband works for a very large and well-known tech company. He recently attended one of the company’s largest international employee events, bringing together people from all over the world. This one specific event was supposed to be a crucial, once-a-year opportunity for all those employees to gather in one place and network together.

But the band was so loud, they couldn’t hear each other.

Despite their $30,000 budget, their past experiences and all the man-power necessary to create this enormous event, it fundamentally failed its purpose.

To succeed, the purpose of a corporate event needs to remain at the center of the planning process. By using it to guide spatial layout, vendor choices, design, energy and its rhythm, event planners can really make their clients shine.

Food for thought!

99 Red Balloons becomes Avenue Lesage

It is with great excitement that we let go of our lovely 99 Red Balloons to become elegant Avenue Lesage!

Our new identity is the true essence of who we’ve been all along. Over the past three years we’ve worked with exciting clients, creating fantastic events with energy and style. It was time for our name to better reflect our approach, our philosophy and our true personality.

Where does the name come from? Avenue Lesage is the street where I grew up. It is where I learned to be independent, to observe the beauties of life and build my own person. The street is in a town called Maisons-Laffitte, just outside of Paris. It is lovely, and green, and extraordinary. It is a town well-known for its horse racing stables, where cars share the streets with proud racehorses carrying their jockeys to the training tracks.

I am excited to share this new Web site with you. It is a great way to showcase my past events via the Gallery,  details about our services and even some information about me.

Strategic Consulting: Fundraising Events

Avenue Lesage offers Strategic Consulting Services to non-profit organizations nationwide who need help defining their fundraising strategy, and creating fundraising events to support their strategic goals. We combine expertise in marketing, messaging and fundraising to guide clients who need to streamline their fundraising efforts.

With a strategic approach to fundraising, non-profit organizations can better identify their targets, use specific messaging to push their community into action, and get the right donors to support their cause. Strategy also turns unproductive events into powerful social tools to spread ideas, get funding and garner long-term support.
